What is The HOTH?
The HOTH is an acronym for Hittem Over The Head, in other words, to bludgeon with awesomeness. It can be used as a noun (as in our product, or our brand) or as a verb (i.e. To HOTH someone, to HOTH something).
When we started the HOTH in 2010, the industry was plagued with sketchy service providers with poor support.
We wanted to change all that. We became the best SEO company so you would have an amazing experience.
We put our names and faces on The HOTH, made support a PRIORITY and gave out guarantees. We developed an entire suite of products to fit your needs.

The History
We’ve come a long way.
Before The HOTH
Before the birth of The HOTH, we ran a full-service SEO agency in Chicago that ranked clients for some of the hardest terms online.
As the agency grew, we saw lots of changes in SEO. We experimented with all different forms of link building, including lots of manual link building. Some things worked, others didn’t. Then Google would change it’s algorithm with Panda or Penguin and everything would need to be restarted from the beginning. Then we invented what is now known as The HOTH.
The HOTH started to deliver SEO home runs one after another, and in a short period of time, we saw huge success with ranking our own clients, beating out huge, established competitor sites in extremely competitive niches.
The Beginning
After The HOTH was well established, we decided to release our first product out to the world as a white label seo service and let other agencies and publishers take advantage of the solution that took us so long to develop. Our agencies can take on more clients and rank them more consistently, all while doing LESS work. We know that the more successful the agencies and publishers are, the more work they will send our way.
The HOTH grew quickly and caught on with agencies around the world. We established a white label seo reseller program to help agencies and consultants resell our services as well as give bulk discounts on our products to our larger customers.
Growth & Expansion
We realized that agencies have more needs than just general link building – so we started expanding our services.
In 2013, we added HOTH Local, our first ever local seo service. HOTH Local focuses on a very smart, well thought out process for procuring diverse types of citations to help customers rank in local searches. We also released our citation cleanup service to help with inconsistent or incorrect citations.
In 2015 we expanded the product lineup to become a full suite of products, offering white hat guest posts, press releases, and more.
In 2016 we grew bigger than ever – our conference circuit grew to SMX, Pubcon, BrightonSEO, and AdTech. We launched our blog content service called HOTH Blogger AND re-launched it with an in-dashboard experience! We also added our first OnPage SEO service.
In 2017 we took our growth to another level by launching our managed SEO product, HOTH X, which quickly became a massive hit.
Our growth landed us on the Inc. 5000 list as one of the fastest-growing companies in the country. With such growth, we figured it was time for a move so we packed up our 6th floor office and moved to the penthouse suite in our building, take a look!
2018 was a great year with several new additions to The HOTH including HOTHCON, our SEO and content marketing conference, and HOTH Video, our newest product that turns blog articles into videos.
We were fortunate enough to receive recognition as a nominee of Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Best Places to Work Award and Best Office Space Award. While a lot of hard work went into accomplishing these feats, we made sure to kick back and relax the second weekend in February on our company cruise to Mexico!
