Moving Company SEO: Generating $14k Worth of Monthly Traffic

Local SEO and moving companies are a match made in heaven.

Why’s that?

It’s because whenever someone needs to look for a local business like a moving company, they almost always use search engines to find them

Research shows that 80% of consumers in the U.S. search for local businesses each week, and 32% do so daily.

Even if your company doesn’t have an official website, local SEO is still an extremely effective marketing channel, so it’s worth having a Google Business Profile at least.

88% of individuals who conduct local searches on smartphones will visit related businesses within a week, so local SEO is great for generating foot traffic.

Also, if you don’t rank for local keywords related to your moving company, such as ‘best movers in (your city),’ another competing website will. That means choosing not to invest in SEO is like handing money to your competitors.

Such was the case for the client in today’s case study.

They were sick and tired of getting outdone by competitors on Google, so they decided to do something about it.

Stay tuned to learn how we got them generating $14.3k worth of organic traffic each month

The Client: A High-Quality Moving Company Operating in Kansas City and Denver

Our client operates a successful moving company that recently opened a new location in Denver, Colorado.

Originally from Kansas City, the owners now enjoy two bustling locations, but it wasn’t always that way.

After expanding into Denver, the client knew they needed to drum up business for their new location or risk drifting into obscurity.

That’s when they decided to invest heavily into local SEO for their Denver location in order to build brand awareness and obtain new clients.

While their website was generating some traffic, they were largely stagnant, as they hadn’t seen any growth since the beginning of 2022.

After doing some research online, our name kept popping up in numerous ‘best of’ lists for SEO agencies, so they decided to look into us further.

Once they came across a few case studies sharing success stories from other moving companies, they knew they wanted to get in touch with us.

During their free SEO consultation, they let us know their plans to heavily promote their new Denver location. In particular, their goals were to:

  1. Drive traffic to their location pages
  2. Rank for more relevant local keywords

It was clear to us that we’d need to mix a few of our SEO products together, so we set the client up on a HOTH X campaign, which is our managed service that combines all our SEO products to form a cohesive strategy.

The SEO Audit: Finding Valuable Easy-Win Keywords

The first step was to audit the client’s website to ensure there weren’t any major errors that could hinder our efforts moving forward.

Technical issues like poor loading speed and indexing errors can cause web pages to not appear in the search results at all, so it’s imperative to find and resolve them first (if any exist).

For this client, their website was professionally done and didn’t contain any major errors.

The next step of the audit was to look for easy-win keywords, which are search terms that the website already ranks for, albeit in a very low position.

The reason why these keywords rock is that it’s easier to improve rankings than it is to start ranking for a keyword from scratch.

So, with some clever tweaks, we can boost the ranking position of easy-win keywords very rapidly.

Here’s an example of what we mean.

When we started our strategy, the client ranked for the keyword ‘kansas vs. missouri’ in position 43.

To give it a boost, we developed a blog post centered around whether it’s better to live in Kansas or Missouri (while implementing SEO best practices).

The results were crazy because we boosted the ranking by 40 entire positions so that they’re now ranking in position 3!

The Results: $14.3k in Monthly Traffic and Ranking for 3k Keywords

After six months of blogging and building backlinks for relevant local keywords, the client’s traffic started to see huge jumps, and they’re now on an upward trajectory:

Here’s an example of an authoritative backlink that we built (with a high domain rating of 75):

Also, the client now generates $14.3k worth of traffic each month, which has pumped a ton of revenue into their business!

Their Denver location is now immensely successful, and the future is bright for their business as a whole.

Do you want to generate more traffic and revenue for your moving company?
