Real Estate SEO: $3k in Traffic for Property Management Site

In the current era, SEO is an extremely important marketing channel for real estate firms and property management companies.

As proof, the term ‘property management’ yields 110,000 monthly searches on Google, so there’s clearly plenty of demand for real estate services on search engines.

If your real estate website isn’t ranking for important search terms related to your business, then you’re A) leaving money on the table and B) letting all that business go to competing websites.

Also, organic and paid search drives 57% of all website traffic, and 61.7% of organic search visitors will convert over the phone – so SEO is definitely worth the time and effort.

In this case study, we’ll tell you how we achieved a $3k monthly traffic value for a property management website that was struggling to generate any traffic at all.

Are you ready to learn how we did it?

Stay tuned to find out!

The Client: A Renowned Property Management Website

Our client owns a property management business that oversees rental properties in North and South Carolina.

Their team boasts over 55 years of combined experience, knowledge, and expertise in rental property management.

While they were generating business through other marketing channels, their SEO left much to be desired.

They weren’t ranking for the local keywords they wanted to, which was a growing cause of concern.

In particular, the client wanted to rank for the keyword ‘property management charlotte nc’ due to how vital it was to their business. Yet, their efforts to do so on their own weren’t cutting it, so they knew they needed professional help.

They decided to get in touch with us after reading a few of our real estate SEO case studies. After seeing a few examples of our work, they thought it was worth reaching out for a free consultation.

During our initial call, we discussed the client’s current performance on search engines, including what they hoped to get out of working with us.

From there, we came up with a list of their primary SEO goals, which were:

  1. Rank as high as possible for local keywords related to property management
  2. Build the website’s authority through backlinks

Since the client had pretty diverse goals (i.e., they combine two or more of our products), we set them up on a HOTH X campaign.

HOTH X is our managed SEO service that provides 100% hands-free SEO for our clients. A dedicated campaign manager devises a strategy based on their unique needs and then communicates key updates to the client.

It’s a great system because our clients don’t have to spend any time on their SEO, freeing them up to focus on their business instead.

The SEO Audit: Technical Fixes and Easy-Win Keywords

Every HOTH X campaign begins with an SEO audit to ensure we don’t shoot ourselves in the foot later.

There are various technical aspects on a website that must be in order for the site to rank well on Google and other search engines.

For example, if a client’s website loads extremely slow, it won’t pass Google’s Core Web Vitals test (which it runs on every page in its index). Google only awards top rankings to sites that have fast loading speed, which is why site speed is a crucial technical SEO factor.

We also look for any crawling and indexing errors in their Google Search Console account.

If Google can’t crawl and index your content, you won’t appear on the search results at all, so this is a critical step.

During the audit, we also look for what we call easy-win keywords. These are search terms that the website already ranks for, just very low. We know that with the right optimizations, we can improve the position ranking A) drastically and B) quickly.

Here’s an example of an easy-win keyword that we found (and improved):

For the keyword ‘rental properties charlotte nc,’ the client ranked in position #13, but we were able to push it up to 5 quite rapidly.

The Strategy: Link-Building and Keyword Research

Since the client wanted to rank for special local keywords, we spent most of our time building links for those pages to increase position rankings.

The website was in need of authority, so we built backlinks on trusted real estate websites to establish trust with Google.

For this, we leveraged our massive link network of 300+ news outlets and media websites.

Here are two examples of high-DA backlinks that we built for the client:

As you can see, both links appear on reputable real estate news sites, and they have high domain ratings (DR, which is scored on a range of 1 – 100).

These backlinks in combination with others helped us establish the authority necessary to rank higher for crucial local keywords.

The Results: Consistent $3k Traffic Value, 62 Top 3 Keywords

In less than a year, we saw a nearly 400% increase in the website’s organic traffic, and they now enjoy a cushy $3k in estimated traffic value each month.

Remember the local keyword the client wanted to rank for in the beginning?

They’re now in position #4, and it’s a VERY competitive keyword.

The client also has 62 other keywords in the top 3.
