This post is a sales pitch, and I think you’re going to like it.
How do you go from a website with not much traffic to getting over 400k pageviews per month?
It’s way simpler than you think – and you can do it too.
With this system, not only are we able to drive lots of traffic – we get TARGETED traffic. It’s buyer traffic.
What did we do? I’ll tell you:
Our Big Mistake
For a long time, we were just trying to rank our product pages for our end-of-cycle buyer keywords.
This works, but we were missing out on a HUGE portion of traffic.
Fast forward to 2014, we re-started our blog and really started adding content.
We focused on attracting our target audience by creating content that answered our customer’s top questions, kept them up to date with current industry trends, and content that was useful as a resource for SEO.
The results were insane:
Not only did we create a better relationship with our audience, we became more trustworthy, and our sales shot up – quadruple.
Instead of just pushing our products, we started attracting our target audience through inbound marketing.
On top of that, we started ranking for all kinds of long-tail keywords that our audience was searching for.
Needless to say, our traffic started increasing month after month, and so did our leads and sales.
But it isn’t all just rainbows and unicorn farts.
Problems With Most Blogs
The problem is that you can’t just start a random blog and hope for traffic.
There are lots of awful blogs out there that get no traffic and have tons of articles.
You have to do it with a strategy:
- You have to first define who you want to attract: Getting traffic is useless unless it’s the right traffic.
- You have to find out what your target audience wants: That means not coming up with random topics – You need to validate your ideas before you even write anything.
- You have to write in an intelligent, no-fluff, data-backed way: Readers have no time for fluffy articles.
- You have to promote each piece of writing: You can put it on your social channels, email, to keep your audience engaged.
Sounds easy right?
Well, the real world has a few problems:
You’re probably really busy – It’s very hard to find the time to blog when you have a business to run.
On top of that, outsourcing is hard.
It’s not easy to come up with topics, validate them, find a writer, train them on formatting, do the quality control, and then finally get it posted to your blog.

Really cool article. Keeping your blog updated with regular content can turn into a big chore. So having a blog writing service done for you is a great alternative.
Great article, great success story. In today’s world, in late 2016, cheap, cheesy backlinks don’t work anymore, maybe a temp bump at best.
I think Content Marketing is the future of SEO for sure; I must say that it has been a struggle for me to get my SEO clients to see the value and also contribute or approve content, especially the ones who are so protective of their brand, they want to manage, control, etc. everything related to their brand, including content.
I think this article also is insightful in showing how to switch focus of the actual content; address prospects; pre-sales type of questions, problems, etc. Awesome!
Great article guys, thank you!
Hi. I have a couple of questions for you. I hosted a site with a view of becoming an affiliate marketer but, you talked about not posting randomly, so I want to ask that as an affiliate what can of post should I engage in, how do I share my post on social media and should my front page also be my post page? I will really appreciate it if you reply me Thanks love what you guys are doing.
1) What kind of post should you engage in? I’m not sure if I understand the question, but we have an article on how to pick blog topics here: https://www.thehoth.com/blog/blog-post-ideas/
2) How do you share your posts on social media? We use https://buffer.com/
3) You can make your homepage your posts page or a standard homepage, I prefer the standard homepage so that you can focus on conversions.
Right points. What about editing and optimizing older posts for LSI’s with great content.
That’s good too – We covered that topic here: https://www.thehoth.com/blog/wordpress-seo/ Cheers!
You are right that traffic is useless unless it’s the target audience. I think providing the content that your audience wants is the key of a successful blog.
Thanks for the article. I’m curious though in how you will know what topic ideas will be popular in my niche? Wouldn’t it just be more effective to send out a quick survey to my email list to find out what they’d want to read?
Yes, you could do that too. We do that all the time – We get questions from support tickets, sales conversations, masterminds, facebook groups, surveys, comments, all sorts of things!
Yes, write for your clients not for search engines but make sure it’s seo optimized! I availed one HOTH product and it’s the best so far!
Nice article , i like the way you explained each point deeply , i appreciate.
Thanks once again
I used to do old school SEO. I started to do the new long-tail SEO recently and I can see the results. Using the tip of the iceberg is definitely the wrong strategy. SEO and getting traffic has transformed a lot in the past few years…
I’m curious, in Janurary 2014 how much content where you writing, what was your content schedule like? e.g. 4 posts a month, 6, 8 or more? And by January 2015 how many targeted articles did you have live?
To be honest when we started it wasn’t advanced at all. I just wrote as many posts as I could. We probably got a good 20 posts rocking and then started scaling from there.
A very thorough article, thanks. Question, though: I’ve read a few articles that state pageviews are a “relic” and no longer important, at least not from SEO standpoint. Do you think that’s true?
Why would pageviews be irrelevant? Pageviews = the number of times someone views a page. The point of SEO is to drive more traffic / pageviews.
Yes I agree unless we decide who are our target audience, our all efforts will be wasted. Thanks for tips and teaching the right strategy.
nice information
Good work

Natural traffic is what we are craving for.
Will be exciting if you guys get my blog on authority blogs with DA 60+
I have already used Hoth blogger several times. It is really SEO optimized quality content, I felt little costly for regular posting. Thanks for reminding your strategy.
I come to this article via facebook and it was worth to come here.
I am looking forward for more tips from you guys on SEO of blog websites.
If you have already written about SEO tricks for blogs, then please share some articles here.
Thanks.
I believe Hoth is the best option to get much traffic bit it’s package is too costly then others.
You can buy cheaper packages, but you won’t get results. Rather than take your money for inferior work, our packages are priced at what it actually takes to get you better rankings!
What are the cost?
Pricing for all of our products can be found on their corresponding pages – https://www.thehoth.com/products/
I’m with you on this, because I tried to do the same,
tried to rank product pages but, it took some time as well as the budget for doing that.
Later I realized that content might work on this case and it worked for my projects as well.
I would love to see more tips. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Satya J.
